Comprising 13 companies, Usiminas operates throughout the whole steel production chain through five Business Units, created following the group’s business restructuring. The company’s Steel, Mining and Logistics, Steel Transformation, Capital Goods and Solutions and Services Units operate in a way to foster the client servicing structure and multiply business opportunities, through the exploitation of synergies. The company extracts ore, transforms it into steel, provides road, railway or maritime transportation and delivery of finished goods, such as equipment or large-sized metallic structure.
Usiminas supplies to markets of high value added, such as automotive and machines and equipment. It is currently the only steel supplier for the shipbuilding industry and is getting ready to expand its capacity to supply this market through new technologies adopted at its mills.
Based in Belo Horizonte (MG) and with steel mills in Ipatinga (MG) and Cubatão (SP), Usiminas has a production capacity of 9.5 Mty of steel. The products and services portfolio available is complemented by the operations of the other Business Units. As a whole, the companies employ approximately 25 thousand professionals directly in its various plants around Brazil.
Usiminas shares are traded in the stock markets of São Paulo (Bovespa), New York (OTC) and Madrid (Latibex). In the US, Usiminas participates in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index, which gathers sound, ethic and sustainable companies with shares traded at the NYSE.
