Ethics and transparence are values embedded in the organizational culture, affecting CNS’ decisions and its relationship with the public. The Ethics Code was elaborated with great participation of employees of all levels. The Company believes in fair competition, based on the highest standards of conduct.

The annual publication of CSN’s Social and Environmental balances ensures public awareness of the Company’s guidelines and achievements, and meets its goals towards operating in a socially responsible manner, constantly improving its practices.

Aiming to strengthen its relationships with interested parties, CSN set up the “Linha Verde CSN” (CSN Green Line, a toll-free number, 0800 2824440) and the e-mail meio.ambiente@csn.com.br for communications with the public regarding complaints, doubts and suggestions related to the environment and to the company’s activities.

The CSN Foundation establishes partnerships to develop projects related to professional education and generation of jobs and income. An assessment of the community’s needs within the Foundation’s strategic planning defines funds, budgets and sustainability of the social programs developed. All procedures are evaluated and approved by the Boards of the CSN Foundation and of Administration of CSN.

The Company participates in various discussion networks, such as Gife, Ethos, Funperj, Fundamig and Social Responsibility, Environmental and Water Resources Business Councils of the Firjan System. Regarding community development, the CSN Foundation is registered with the City Councils of Social Assistance and Juvenile Rights in the cities it operates.

Regading the environment, the Company is present in Water Basin Committees and multi-sector associations with other segments within the society. This involvement aims to establish discussion forums on continuous and growing practices of social responsibility in Brazil and in the world. Based on the idea of involving companies in the community’s social programs, single-handed or in partnerships with other companies, NGOs and public entities, the CSN Foundation has been consolidating itself in reflection groups effectively, strengthening its goal of being recognized nationwide as CSN’s social link.
