Villares Metals is the leading company in the high-alloy steels market in Latin America. It is the region’s largest supplier of tool steel, rapid steel, bars for stainless steel, special alloys and large cast parts. The Company is also one of the world’s three largest suppliers of valve steel.

The company started operating a finishing roller in 2007, an investment of 50 million Euros, which expanded its production capacity of rolled products by 40%. With the new roller, the Company is increasing its product line, aiming at a larger participation in the automotive sector and in the supply of special stainless steel for the oil and gas, aeronautic and sugar and alcohol industries.

A new 5,000 t press, one of the best of its kind in the world, recently went into operation, increasing its cast products capacity by 30%. The investment in this equipment, of R$ 60 million, allows the company to manufacture large parts for the energy, sugar-alcohol, shipbuilding and oil sectors, among others, including ingots of up to 35 t.

Another investment concluded in 2008 is the New Thermal Treatment Service Center, with a modern computer-based system which controls and monitors all equipments, ensuring the thermal cycles are performed in accordance with the best practices, guaranteeing performance and offering clients steel and thermal treatment from a single supplier.

At its R&D Center, Villares Metals has been developing safe means to meet market demands with greater speed, less resources, always respecting the planet’s sustainability and the society’s economic possibilities. Over the past years, besides improving and strengthening technical competences, this area has increased product competitiveness and supported the Company’s business expansion, leading to the launch of seven new product lines, with several new steels – among which, lines ISO, ISOMAX and USIFAC.

The quality of Villares Metals products is certified under norms ISO 9001:2000, ISO / TS 16949:2002, EMBRAER GQP/SQF, D2000W0, Ü-NORM and P.E.D DIRETIVA 97/23/EC. The Company also has certification ISO 14001.

In order to be closer to the client and able to offer unique solutions and technical assistance, besides thermal treatment services and its broad line of custom-made steels, Villares Metals offers strategic inventory at its Distribution and Service Center, the largest distribution center of tool steel in Latin America, with an area of 5,500m2, 28 cutting machines and over 3,200 items.
