Aperam: a company that is already born strong

Aperam is a global company producing stainless, electrical and nickel alloy steels, with sales in more than 30 countries and 9,800 employees. It keeps 30 sales offices worldwide with customer support and 19 service centers, including 10 plants and installations for transformation. The business is organized into three divisions:

Aperam has a production capacity of 2.5 million tons of stainless plates in Europe and Brazil and it is leader in high added value niches – alloys and specialties. It has a highly integrated network for distribution, processing and services and a unique capability of producing stainless and special steels, using biomass (charcoal) in a competitive way. Its industrial network with six plants is concentrated in Brazil, Belgium and France

Meaning of the name

The name Aperam encompasses the history and legacy of the Company, while pointing to the future. “Aper” comes from the English word “aperture”, which means opening, followed by “am”, which refers to its origin in ArcelorMittal group. The name also evokes the opportunity to win in a challenging global environment, always evolving and redefining the way of thinking, working and behaving.

Aperam South America

Aperam South America is part of Aperam Group. The Company is the sole integrated producer of stainless and electrical steels. It also produces flat alloy carbon steels. Its industrial plant is located in Timoteo, Minas Gerais state.

Highways and railways link the Plant to the main consumer centers of steel products in Latin America and to exporting points. It keeps a commercial office in São Paulo and an international logistics office in Rio de Janeiro, and they are associated to a network of distributors and service centers throughout Brazil.

Aperam BioEnergia

Aperam BioEnergia administrates an asset of renewable forests in Jequitinhonha Valley, also located in Minas Gerais state. It has a production capacity of 1.4 million cubic meters with a potential to reach 2.2 cubic meters in the next years. The production of charcoal from these forests supplies the Aperam Plant in Timoteo.
