As for their shape

Another form of additional classification of steel regards its geometric shape. The categories are the following:

Semi-finished

Products from continuous teeming process or from grinding lamination, for further lamination or forging processing.

  • Plates
  • Billets
  • Blooms

Flat Products

Steel products resulting from lamination process, with width extremely larger than their thickness (L >>>E), sold under the form of carbon and special steel plates and coils.

  • Non-coated carbon steel
    - Heavy plates and coils from the hot strip roller - HTR (5mm < E > 12,7mm)
    - Heavy plates and coils from the heavy plates laminator - LCG (E > 12,7 mm)
    - Hot-rolled thin plates and coils (BQ/CFQ)
    - Cold-formed thin plates and coils (BF/CFF)
  • Coated carbon steel
    - Packaging foils (tinplate – tin-coated – and chromium coated foil)
    - Electro-galvanized coils and plates (EG - Electrolytic Galvanized)
    - Hot-dip coils and plates (HDG - Hot Dipped Galvanized)
    - Aluminum-zinc alloy coils and plates
    - Pre-painted coils and plates
  • Special steel
    - Silicon steel coils and plates
    - Stainless steel coils and plates
    - High carbon (C >= 0,50%) and other alloy steel coils and plates

Long Products

Steel products resulting from lamination process, with transversal sections of polygonal shape and length extremely superior to the largest dimension of the section, being offered in special and carbon steel.

    • Carbon Steel
      - Light shapes (h < 80 mm)
      - Medium shapes (80 mm < h <= 150 mm)
      - Heavy shapes (h > 150 mm)
      - Rods
      - Wire
      - Bars (civil construction quality)
      - Seamless tubes and pipes
      - Drawn products
    • Specialty / alloy steel
      - Wire (for bolts and others)
      - Steel bars for mechanical construction
      - Tool steel bars
      - Stainless steel bars and for valves
      - Seamless tubes and pipes
      - Drawn products
